Hi my name is Glen Falk and I have been walking with the Lord for 8 years. Prior to accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I lived a life totally separated from God. By no means, do I boast on my past before coming to know Jesus, but I give God all the Glory and Honor for Delivering me from a life of condemnation.
Around 15 years ago, God put women in my life that knew Jesus but was backsliding. We met when she came to my family’s restaurant for a bartending job. I hired her solely on her looks (pretty shallow huh) but what I meant for self (LUST) –God meant for good.
This women’s name is Lois and now I am blessed to call her my wife of 8 years. When we started dating she was engaged to another man and I had other women in my life as well. But as a result of our partying it brought us together.
Over the years of partying thinking I had it all from money, cars, motorcycles and Women I began to realize that everyday I woke up I had a big emptiness in my heart and all the things that I had couldn’t fill that HOLE. Many nights staying up all night partying, Lois would share this Jesus with me and I knew what she had and believed was real. What I had, was a religion based on what my faith and my works could do for me to get into heaven. I never knew that all I needed was to put my faith in what Jesus did for me.
Well it finally happened – PARTY OVER!!!! After one crazy weekend, Lois told me she had dropped to her knees and asked God for forgiveness and recommitted her life to Jesus. I was very happy for her and had hoped that this would pass. Thank you Lord because she is still committed.
So here is what took place next. Lois stopped drinking and parting and I found myself sleeping alone on the couch, when at one time, we would find ourselves enwrapped in each other for hours at end. Not anymore. She started to attend a church called Calvary Chapel Of Old Bridge. Her father’s girlfriend’s daughter attended there and she called her to see if she could join them. What do you think she said? Now after a few weeks’ Lois asked me to attend a service with her, so to shut her up, I went. From the moment I walked in through the door I realized something was different. I know knew it was the JOY of the Lord that so many people had here.
The second door I walked through was the sanctuary and I noticed that there was a stage with a podium and instruments. As the service began the band played Praise and Worship music, I was surprised at how good they were and the singers too. I enjoyed it - I was always a Head Banger! As I begun to listen to the lyrics, God’s Holy Spirit began to work in me and I fought back with tears. During the service I said to Lois, did you tell your new friends about me, because they sure seem to be talking about me. That was of course my conviction. When we left the service I felt so confused, I knew I would be back, so when Lois asked if I would like to go next week I told her I think I would like that.
Over the next few weeks, Gods Holy Spirit was leading me to see that I needed His Son Jesus. I needed to be saved from my retched ways and recognize what Jesus did for me on the cross at Calvary. After the services at Calvary Chapel, the Pastor has an alter call, this is an invitation to come forward and accept Jesus Christ into your life and admit that you are a sinner. I fought this for a few weeks until one day the Pastor said this ~ and I will never forget it. If any one here wants to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior but is afraid to, because you might not live up to His standards that are smart…. because we ALL fall short of His glory. But know matter how many times we fall He will pick us up, wash us off and start again.
I then went forward that day with many tears accepting the gift of salvation from Jesus and Jesus alone. I was now set free from a life I am not proud of. My new life begins I am Born Again. Today I live a life thanking God for what He has done for me.
Eight years later now married to Lois. I have a beautiful daughter named Lace Lyn from a previous marriage that has graduated college and is now going for her Masters in Forensics. Lois has two wonderful girls also from a previous marriage and our prayer is that all 3 of them will give their lives to Christ.
